The Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences Crew

  • Captain Ricky

    Captain Ricky

Captain Ricky has worked for the Department of Land & Natural Resources at Mānele Harbor and as a captain for commercial charters catering to Four Seasons guests for over 20 years. His experience in and out of the water makes him one of the most well-rounded and respected watermen on Lāna‘i. In 2020, Ricky assisted with the delivery of our vessel Lāna‘i II from Newport Beach to Lāna‘i. During the trip, he was nicknamed the “Fish Killer,” ensuring no one went hungry — and he nearly landed a 500-pound marlin.

  • Captain Kristin

    Captain Kristin

Captain Kristin has worked for commercial charters catering to Four Seasons guests for 13 years, starting in 2012. Previously, she worked on boats in Alaska, Texas, the Gulf of Mexico, Maui and Kaua‘i. Her background is in marine biology, and she is currently our head dive instructor. Her favorite Hawaiian island to dive off is Lāna‘i — of course! Her favorite place in the world that she’s been diving is the Philippines. When she's not working, she enjoys creating gyotaku fish prints and shell jewelry.

  • Captain Dustin

    Captain Dustin

Born and raised on the island of Lāna‘i, Captain Dustin brings unmatched local knowledge and a deep connection to the land and sea. With 19 years of experience at Trilogy and 8 years with Lāna‘i Ocean Sport — now known as Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences — he is one of our most skilled and seasoned captains. He also worked for Expeditions Ferry for six years. Captain Dustin is hardworking, consistent and well-rounded. When he's not working, you can find him out on the water diving or in the mountains hunting.

  • Martin

Martin has been a valued crew member for more than 25 years. He was born and raised in the Marshall Islands and moved to Hawai‘i with his wife to raise their family on Lāna‘i. He also worked for Expeditions Ferry for more than five years before joining Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences. Martin is an outstanding snorkel tour guide, and many returning guests ask about him and remark on his sense of humor. Martin says, "I'm here, along with the captains and crew, to share the love of the ocean with you all."

  • Captain Chris

Captain Chris began working for Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences more than seven years ago when he moved from O‘ahu to Lāna‘i. Before the move, he worked as a rescue swimmer, boat operator, and technician for a deep-water submersible team researching precious coral, where he had the opportunity to co-pilot a submarine to 2,300 feet. Originally from the East Coast, he grew up an avid racer of dinghies, small keelboats and catamarans — a passion that led him to become a U.S. sailing instructor. He has logged more than 40,000 offshore sailing miles.

  • Atreyu

Atreyu (Trey for short) was born and raised on the island of Lāna‘i. About six years ago, Trey shared:
"I'm doing what I love to do. Working with guests on the ocean is prime for me. I learn something new every day and meet people from around the world. I hope to be a captain soon — there aren't too many on the island of Lāna‘i. I would like to start a trend and be a role model for keiki (children) here, like Dustin and Ricky were for us when we were young."

Since then, Trey earned his captain’s license in 2024. In his free time, he loves to ride quads with his ‘ohana, fish along the shoreline for dinner, and hunt for Axis deer.

  • Dominador

You can call him Jr for short. Jr has been with Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences for nine years as a deckhand. He’s also the captain of his own boat, and during his free time, you’ll often find him out fishing with his wife and triplets — yes, you read that right, triplets! Originally from the Philippines, Jr moved to Lāna‘i many years ago and says the island is truly one of a kind. He’d also like to share a safety tip for all future travelers: have fun — but most importantly, be safe.

  • Joemar

Now in his sixth year with Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences, Joemar has grown into a dedicated and knowledgeable member of our crew. Born and raised on the island of Lāna‘i, he brings a strong work ethic and a deep respect for the ocean. Since joining us, Joemar has gained a wealth of experience and continues to pursue his goal of earning his captain’s license to further his maritime career. Joemar also runs his own successful painting business, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on skills. He says, “The best part about work is the fishing charters and meeting people from all over the world — and the opportunities for me to learn about boats and mechanical work.”

  • Noa

    Noah

We’re excited to welcome Noah to the Lāna‘i Ocean Experiences crew! Born and raised on O‘ahu, he’s spent his life on the water, with over three years as a deckhand and experience as captain of his own fishing boat. Whether he’s leading a fishing trip, snorkel tour or sunset cruise, Noah is passionate about creating memorable, safe and meaningful experiences for every guest. His love for the ocean and Hawai‘i shines through in everything he does.
